Poovar Island Resort

The Poovar Island Resort is a sprawling facility. It is located in the middle of the backwaters around 45 minutes from Trivandrum Airport . Coconut palms, flowers and a network of lakes, lagoons, rivers, canals and waterways characterize the landscape. The beauty of nature gives the resort its charm.

India’s hospitality awaits you in the midst of impressive nature. Relaxing days are ahead of you. The element of water is striking in this spacious complex. Many palm trees provide shade. Cozy places invite you to linger.

Only a small lagoon separates the resort from the sandy beach on the Arabian Sea. You can reach the beach in a few minutes with the hotel’s own boat.

The Poovar facility is divided into two parts. One half consists of an exclusive „Ayurveda Village“ exclusively for Ayurveda guests. The other half is a „regular resort complex“.

Room categories

78 differently equipped rooms and cottages are available. All rooms have a shower / bath and toilet, hairdryer, minibar, TV, fan and telephone. An air conditioner is an additional charge for booking.

Ayurveda Village Cottages: The Ayurveda Village Cottages overlook the exclusive pool. They are equipped with an open-air bathroom.

Ayurveda Deluxe Cottages: This cottage category consists of two very spacious deluxe suites and a separate lounge. (Otherwise identical equipment as Ayurveda Village Cottage.)

Floating Cottages: Floating cottages are located on the water in the bay in front of the island and have a wonderful view of the beach and the backwater estuary from the terrace. The equipment corresponds to the country cottages.

Two of these cottages use environmentally friendly materials, solar energy and use the wind for air conditioning.

Land Cottages: The Land Cottages are located on the palm-fringed island and are built in the typical architecture of Kerala. They are provided with large, cozy living rooms and tiled floors.

Some of the country cottages belong to the Ayurveda Village. The rooms on the ground floor have a private veranda with a wonderful view of the garden. There are hammocks on the balconies to relax in.

Premium Land Cottages: Premium Land Cottages with a garden view are slightly more spacious than the Superior Land Cottages. The bathroom with two sinks also has a jacuzzi.

Restaurants

The main restaurant Tiffins offers continental and Asian specialties and is located near the pool.

In addition, pure Ayurvedic food is served in the Ayurveda Village restaurant.

In addition, the floating restaurant offers snacks from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

leisure

Whether cultural performances, lectures on Ayurveda, cooking courses, boat tours, yoga or a sunset cruise. A visit to the village is also possible. Here, colorful markets offer exotic diversity. The choice is yours.
